Thou Shalt Not Covet.

I covet this...

I want one of these so bad, that I think I am making my kids miserable with my whining...
and it doesn't necessarily have to be this one,
just about any pool will do.
My west facing backyard is crying out to be used...
it's too darn hot for any other activity back there.
A swimming pool is the perfect solution...I feel it to my core.

This should be my back yard.
I know you're feeling it too.
Darn it.

Hannah's Gone For Five Days.

Fifth Grade Camp called her name and she went happily. I worry that she will be homesick and  scared but this girl never does what I think she will. She is fiercely independent when she sets her mind to it. None the less I assured her that she should have a blessing from Dad before she left. She agreed. I think the blessing was more comforting to me than her :)  Sleep well Hannah, I'm not sure I will.

Happy Father's Day.

I am blessed.

I have the greatest Dad. He has been my hero for as long as I can remember. I don't know anyone who tries harder to be what Jesus wants him to be. I'm glad He wanted him to be my father.
I love you Dad.

My Garden has relocated...

This year I am just growing tomatoes. And they are closer to home. Really close. My future garden spot is under construction. Next year we should have some serious crops. But this year just tomatoes. I hope to be canning lots of spaghetti sauce to balance out all the free pasta I couponed this year...cross your fingers for me....

One box is cucumbers...just because.

Jack Sparrow's Got Nothing On US.

One of my favorite things in life? My book group.
Last night we had our last meeting before our summer hiatus...
The book of the month was The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle-

It was hosted expertly by Jan Fisher who missed not a single detail of the the Pirate theme, from costumes to Pirate Booty.

Life imitating art? Just like the ferocious storm in the book,  the wind kicked up just as we started and the electricity went out for most of the meeting. Coincidence? I think not.

Warning, you might find that the following pictures are not for the squeamish...some are truly frightening images...
The ferocious Courtney, Trilby, and Jan...

Meredith and Ashley who played, among other things, a mean pirate inspired violin/harp duet...
The truly terrifying Heather, Cheryl and Barbara...
Nothing scary about these women-Carol, Donna, and Shannon  (except for maybe Shannon's right hook...)

And the scariest of them all?  Me with the red-eye look... Why am I the only one in character? And why am I taking out Denise's chin? And why does Andrea  look like she's not the least bit frightened? Hmm...

Well that's it- summer break is upon us and we will reconvene in the fall with a truly frightening book:
Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother....

Happy Summer!

Grandma and Grandpa Came to Town...

Grandma and Grandpa came to town and it felt like a week-long celebration. It involved ice cream just about everyday. We had lots of fun and after a great day of baptism celebrating yesterday, we ended the week celebrating not one, but two birthdays. We just really know how to party don't we?

Jordan and Will were the birthday boys...they didn't mind sharing the spotlight.
Will sported the skateboard cake...
while Jordan enjoyed a festive BYU tribute!!! (so corny- I'm tired)

Janis was the hit of the party for bringing dry ice and root beer...
Michaela was presented her deluxe pocket knife that Grandpa gives to Eagle Scouts and sometimes Young Womanhood Recognition Award recipients (Michaela opted for the knife over a quilt from Grandma...) We all just had a darn good time. Thanks for coming Grandma and Grandpa. We'll miss you.
