"Happy Christmas, Harry."

My annual holiday reading of Harry Potter 7 has begun.
I am not sure how this tradition started,
or why only the seventh book,
but I love it.

A series with the most superb final book ever.
Well done, J.K. Rowling, well done.

The Christmas season can officially begin :)

Awkward Family Photos...

It's that time of year when we desperately try to take a picture worthy of a Christmas card...
Kind of an epic fail today.

 Maybe no photo this year?

Thanksgiving.

A time to count your blessings.

1) An amazing father/son turkey carving duo.

2) Cousins who love each other (most of the time!)
3) A husband/father with a weird sense of humor.

4) A sweet new addition to our extended family.

5) Two very opposite and super cool  nephew-brothers...

6) Tin Roof Fudge Pie.

7) Beautiful music.

8) The return of awesome daughter number one.

9) The continual presence of awesome daughter number two.

10)  Lots of great family nearby!

Thank you Heavenly Father.
Our life is good.

Oh yeah, and 11?

The best adaptation of book to screen
I have seen in a looooong time.
Truly Amazing.

I forgot how much I love this book,
and yet hate the ending!!!!

Wednesday.

I think I must still be in some post election depression- I have no zip in me at all, to blog, or otherwise...
I keep reminding myself that the blog is the only family record I am keeping so pleeeeeze keep recording.
I just don't feel like it right now.
However, I did take this picture last night before Elijah headed to the BYU basketball game...
He's a cutie.
I am not sure what is in the middle of his forehead. I didn't notice it live-and-in-person.
Hmmm.
I will have to ask him about it.
Maybe.
Is it Friday yet?

Food and Family on a Sunday Evening...

Once again, Sunday dinner at the Cook's.
Once again, Italian food.
Once again, deliciousness.

Great family, great food.
Does it get any better than that?

This Is Not Hawaii...

Much to my newly transplanted mother-in-law's chagrin, here is what Provo looks like today:

Oh yes,

Moving On.

Yesterday, I just didn't want to talk about it.
I skipped the concession speech, as well as the acceptance speech.
I didn't want to hear anyone analyze, dissect, or excuse it.
I just wanted to mourn.
It's painful.
I am grieving the loss of a dream.
I really believed it would happen.
I wasn't alone.
It was an interesting process though, losing this dream.
I went to the temple right after I voted.
I felt a beautiful reassurance that the Great Creator was in charge.
I had a sense of peace, and yet a little discomfort at the same time.
It felt kind of foreboding.
I now know why.

But it is what it is.
I will pray mightily for President Obama and his administration.
I will hope for the best and  prepare for the worst.
And I mean prepare.
And just like the Jaredite barges in the tempestuous deep,
I know that no matter the tumult, there will always be light,
and the wind will never cease to blow towards the promised land.

Thank you Mitt Romney for giving me the most honorable choice I have ever had in an election.

And seriously.
Put on your Christmas music.
It's like salve on an open wound.

I Am A Taking A Break...

...from the weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth
to wish my sisters
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I don't know about you guys
but it has been a day I will never forget...

Day of Reckoning:

In anticipation of today being a very long day, I have created a To Do List to help pass the time in a meaningful way.

1: (the most obvious, and not necessarily too lengthy of a wait I might say...)

2: (to help me be at peace no matter what happens...)

3: (Duh!)

Not a bad day's work, right?

Three Thoughts on a Sunday Evening:

1) A late Happy Birthday to Hannah and Cody...we celebrated their birthdays belatedly at Sunday dinner...

2) My stomach is in knots anticipating casting the most enthusiastic and important vote in my lifetime....
3) and with no regrets I have broken out this music, perfect for a Sabbath evening.
Shabbat Shalom

For Michaela...

You could sub Michaela's name for Alan Rickman's and it would be just as true.

The Ugly Bug Ball...

Aren't the Thenardiers just a little too attractive here?

Let's compare:

Oh yes, they are much more attractive .

Could it just be December 25th already?
