Conference Omlets and Eggheads.

Judie came to visit this conference morning with all the ingredients for some "eggcellent" omelets. She put me in charge of the cooking because SHE remembered that I did an "eggcellent" job last year...

Well, my omelet looked just about as good as...

Bethanys' morning hair do...

...which, by the way
when she entered the kitchen,
caused Will to pause mid-sentence and exclaim,
"What the bed-head?"

But thanks, Judie, for the delicious breakfast,
which caps off a week in which I have eaten entirely too much. Truly.

And don't you think it was unfair for the powers that be to end the Saturday afternoon session  with a few seconds of Elder Archuleta on camera, causing me to scream, "It's David!" and no one else in my house caring much? And now I can hardly remember the beautiful talks because all I can think about is how I went a little to the crazy side just because, you know, Elder Archuleta was singing....?

Unfair.

Shabbat Shalom.

A Love Letter.

Dear Michael-
How are you? I am fine.
Hope you are fine too.
I miss you.
I think I might have seen you yesterday. Were you the one in the red shirt?
Remember when we used to hang out and watch T.V. together, just you and me, after the kids went to bed?
Those were the good old days.
Do you think that will ever happen again?
Just wondering.

                                Love,
                                    Your wife (Brenda)

Festival of Colors.

Hannah had her first experience at the Festival of Colors, an Indian celebration welcoming Spring. It takes place at the local Hare Krishna temple and apparently there were over 80,000 people yesterday. Wow.

The highlight is dancing while throwing brightly colored chalk powder at each other. Hmmm...

Hannah celebrated the celebration by taking a nice hot shower.

Happy Spring!

This Friday.

For a couple of hours, I am checking out of one crazy world,
 and into another.
 Can't wait.

Pinewood Derby Mania Has Begun.

Someone doesn't like to hear that he is too old to compete...

He's is just as intense about it as when he was 8.

Jacob created an original design.

Sweetness...

... and Will had some help from the World Wide Web.
With less than two weeks to go, we can do some serious fine tuning.
Vroom! Vroom!
(possibly the two most embarrassing words I've ever written)

Just Finished This.

From the author of The No.1 Ladies Detective Agency
it's a book that just made me laugh out loud.
So many great characters, and just plain wonderful writing.
It's the first in a series of 7(Yay! 6 more to devour).
Loved this.
Thanks Court.

So We Have A Bird...

...who desperately needs her wings clipped.
 She is serious about flying,
and is desperate to escape Will's overzealous attention.
So when given the chance, this is her refuge:

Seriously,
my head.
Lovely.

Happiness.

We have had a banner week, thanks to the fasting and prayers of many family members last weekend, and a terrific teacher. Will and I walk to school early each morning, where his teacher is waiting on the field to play football with him until school starts. I leave, and Will lets me.
Today, Will barely said goodbye to me as he ran to the playground. And every morning, for the five full minutes it takes me to walk home, I hold back tears of joy as I converse with Heaven in gratitude. God loves me. He loves my son. Life is good.

Sunday Dinner and the First Discussion.

We enjoyed a great break the fast dinner at the Backus' tonight.

It was followed by Tyler,
MTC Teacher Extraordinaire,
teaching the first discussion to all the prospective missionaries...

He definitely had Jake's undivided attention.

In the end, I think he converted a few...
I think all the cousins want to be just like Tyler when they grow up.

The girls love their cousin Ashley...

...and we love them both.
Shabbat Shalom.

The Three Labit's Play Church Ball...

Once upon a time, the Brown girls ruled church ball.
Today, it was the Labit girls.
Okay, they didn't necessarily rule,
but they all played in the same game.
 And it was sweet.

BethL...
Michaela...

...and Hannah.

Does this look like a team that ran the score so high the other team asked to quit keeping score?
Oh yes they did.

Til next week.

It's Hard.

I am spent.
I am physically and emotionally exhausted.
These past two weeks have been two of the hardest weeks I can remember in a long time. It's stressful trying to alleviate the stress of your child. I have not slept well and my stomach has a constant knot deep inside as I am always wondering what the next school morning will bring...

Having said that- I have been so blessed. Besides the temple, the scriptures and personal prayer have become a refuge. I know that trials are for this reason: they crack our hearts wide open and and move us right back to Him, up close and personal, if we're willing.

This morning as I started to close my Book of Mormon, I realized that I had just finished the second to last chapter. My eyes filled with tears...strange as it sounds it's always so hard to say goodbye to that particular Book Mormon reading experience. Tomorrow when I get to Moroni 10:4, I'll probably weep openly because I feel that promise every single time I read.
It's true.
And I love it.
