Dear Grandma Tomi:

Dear Grandma Tomi:
This weekend we went to Yellowstone National Park. It was lots of fun. We battled mosquitoes and rain and ornery kids (from time to time), but all in all, IT WAS GREAT FUN!!!
Sorry, no pic's of all the animals we saw but hey- who cares about a few million bison, a coyote, and a truly awesome black bear and her cub? What you want is some great grandkid photo op's, right???

We miss you- hope we visit together soon.

You're my obsession...

Who knows why I obsess about cookie dough...it has been with me since college...it was sometimes an "after-date" late night, roommate, food fest, as well as-- the thing a broken heart was temporarily mended by... whatever its purpose, it has stuck with me...

Unfortunately, someone turned me on to this website
www.cookiedoughcreations.com which has refreshed my obsession anew...

Can you imagine cookie dough sandwiches?

Cookie dough cheesecakes?

And flavors of cookie dough that include, cake batter, Oreo, and brown sugar???

I seriously am not sleeping wondering what a cookie dough sandwich would taste like... and you know I will find out.

I realize that normal people will find this "cookie dough excessive"...I get that.

It's probably time for therapy.

An interesting phenomenon as of late...

I have been doing lots of patriotic reading lately. I have noticed something quite humbling as I read about John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Ben Franklin. The same spirit that whispers to me as I read my scriptures, whispers quite adamantly that these men were called by God, to establish this country on fundamental principles of freedom inspired by God, Himself. I find myself weeping as I read the Declaration of Independence and the preamble to the Constitution. I am understanding what a really short timeline it has been for so much to have been accomplished since the founding of this country. I have taken too much for granted for too long. Where are men of integrity and principle? They lead our church thank heavens, but what about our country? Oh what I would give for another George Washington.

Michael is always the best at entertaining himself.
(P.S. in the background, the TWO vehicles the Labits must now travel in when going anywhere together...the minivan died a painful death, and after two, we decided to depart from the minivan era.)

My Patriotic Duty...

The second week of summer vacation is almost over and due to the cold rainy weather, my days as of late have been spent watching The HBO miniseries "John Adams" on DVD which I am loving ...

and reading "The Real Thomas Jefferson" which I am also loving.

Might want to lighten up when the sun comes out again...
