Continuing On With Our Adventurous Week.

After Thanksgiving Point on Tuesday, and This Is The Place on Wednesday, yesterday we headed up to Bridal Veil Falls. The weather has been soooo cooperative, only in the 70's yesterday and it was awesome. (I actually shivered a little up there in the canyon...)

As usual, the view was spectacular and the kids had a great time.

They do look a little unimpressed here, but trust me....

Molly and Hannah are oblivious to Elijah's life threatening instability...

...and Kaitlyn is bummed that Elijah is out-sillying her...

Will and Cecil figured out how to pet the trout. Seriously.

And Jake decided to  cool off his feet. Shoes and all.

It seriously was the most beautiful June day I can remember here in Provo,Utah.

And isn't it awesome that  there is so much splendor so close by???

This Is The Place...

Yesterday, we spent some time up at
This Is The Place Heritage Park.
Thirteen years in Utah and we had never been.
It was time and it did not disappoint.

The monument itself was breathtaking.
The history was inspiring and humbling.

But the most fun by far, was Pioneer Village.

And even though the trip pretty much conquered the adults- we just aren't as tough as we used to be-
it was a great day with a great group of kids.

Eleven Years Ago Today...

...Cecil Halliday was born.

And boy are we glad!

This is the second year in a row he has been here in Utah on his birthday.

 Aren't we lucky?

Happy Birthday Cees.
We think you're pretty awesome.

Happy Fathers Day...

...to the man who is Dad to this motley crew.
We Love You.

And what I mean by motley is...

Yup, motley awesomeness.

A Perfect Evening In June.

Once again, it's the end of book group
for the summer.
The last book group of the season is always held on the back patio of sweet Jan Fisher's home,
and we pray for good weather.
We have been blown inside in previous years, but last night  was perfection in so many ways.

A perfect book,
a perfect harpist,
a perfect setting,
 and perfect company.
What more could you ask for?

(There was a little bit of drama about this particular picture...
see if you can find the culprit....)

And so, we break til September.
Until then...

Family Home Evening....

...found us in the canyon with the Cooks.
After a scorching hot day,
it was the perfect place to cool off.
We brought the usual hot dogs
and S'more fixins and went to town.

Ray and Michael were the master hot dog roasters...

...while Elijah perfected marshmallow toasting (he apparently takes it very seriously).

And here is something that I take seriously...

...as well as this.

One day Kaitlyn will pose for me
without being silly but I'm not holding my breath :)

After dinner, Alissa and Kaitlyn impressed us with their slap/clap skills
 (seriously, they were good).

That was followed by an entertaining kickball game,

where most of the entertainment was off the field.

And just when we thought the evening could not get any better,
a moose walked by.
I seriously did not know moose lived in Utah.
Fun stuff.

From Hobble Creek Canyon we headed to the coolest park in Springville.

It has this light game reminiscent of the game, Simon, where you copy the light patterns by hitting them as they flash.
You can compete with someone else,
or play by yourself.

 Very entertaining.

But most entertaining was this little contraption that spins you around like a tire rolling down a hill...

...making it almost impossible to stand up straight after spitting you out.

Even this guy had to try it.
Uhg.

And there you have it.
The kind of family home evening that
doesn't elicit the groans of being
tortured with a lesson.

Til next week.

Another Benchmark.

And so, yesterday, with a little bit of fanfare, Will received his Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts.

A special brew of Cub Scout values was concocted...

...and then Will drank it down, proving herewith that he is ready to ascend to the next level they call
BOY SCOUTS.

And thus ends our years with the Cubs.
Until one of us is called back into the program.
