Insanity on a Wednesday Evening.

Do the math:

5 kids
2 parents
6 activities
1 night

Michaela- Temple night                        5:30
Bethany- Lacrosse game                      4:30
Elijah- Etiquette Dinner                        5:30
Hannah- Choir Concert                       6:15
Will- Soccer game                               5:30
         Birthday party                            7:00

Remember how hard we thought life was when they were babies and toddlers???
At least they were all in bed by 7:00 and the night belonged to us.

Field Trip Monday

Remember that New Year's resolution I made
to be better? One of those "betters" was to have better Family Home Evening's, which were becoming a little too casual. So this year, we created a little more structure...
(and when I say we, you know who I mean ).

On the first Monday, we have a lesson from Preach My Gospel. On the second Monday, it comes from the For Strength of Youth pamphlet. The next Monday is dedicated to one of Christ's attributes found in 2 Peter 1:4-7. The fourth Monday is all about our country and primarily it's founding. If there is a 5th Monday, we plan a field trip. It isn't always in that order but we have been pretty good about it. My commitment to better family home evenings was reinforced by a recent article in the Ensign by Sister Beck where she said something like "Be BRILLIANT in the basics." Well, we have a long way to go before we start to exude brilliance but we are certainly going for consistency.

ANYHOW- all that to say we "brilliantly" threw structure out the window tonight .We had field tripped it to the Karl Bloch exhibit earlier this month so it was Beth's turn for the lesson ... however,  Dad called and had to work late, then Hannah had a family invite her to the Jazz game, and Bethany remembered she needed doughnuts for class tomorrow...
hmmm, what to do, what to do?

Yeah, another field trip,
but we did choose the better doughnut place...

Does This Count?

Does it count on your Mom resume, if you attend your son's orchestra performance and you fall asleep right before his group takes the stage?

And do you lose points on the mommy scoreboard if he looks out over the audience and finds you slumped over in your chair, eyes closed and mouth open?

And do you have to do some kind of community service if he then points you out to his buddies and they all agree that you are the lamest mom in the audience?

Not that this has happened to me, it's just a question I have.

These goofballs show what their mouths can hold...(and a little more of Kyle's nose than we care to see...)

We throw a slammin' birthday party for Janis...   one month late...

And Angie takes her usual position at the Sunday dinner festivities...
(She keeps trying to convince us that she works hard during the week...)
Oh yeah, and David Osmond ...he was awesome.

The things a mother finds when doing laundry.

A wadded up note found in a pair of jeans.
Huh????
